It was not possible to reach the Chinese e-commerce behemoth for comment right away.
According to the newspaper, it’s unclear whether there would be further layoffs after some of the laid-off employees willingly left and a few relocated, citing an employee with knowledge of the situation.

It has also been impacted by the fallout from the Russia-Ukraine war.
