With Just One Phone Call, Hackers Can Take Control of Your WhatsApp Account! With over 2 billion users, WhatsApp is one of the world’s most popular messaging platforms. Because of its large user base, it has also become a haven for scammers and hackers engaged in malicious activities. A WhatsApp scam that allows an attacker to take control of a user’s WhatsApp account is now active, according to a recent report. Check out the information below right now!

Be Wary of This New WhatsApp Scam!

A new scam currently targeting random WhatsApp users, according to a recent report by Gizchina, citing cybersecurity firm CloudSEK, allows an attacker to completely take control of their WhatsApp account with just a phone call. When an attacker gains access to a WhatsApp account, he or she can demand money from the user’s WhatsApp contacts.

Rahul Sasi, the founder and CEO of CloudSEK, recently discovered the new scam. According to him, the hacker’s primary goal is to call an unsuspecting WhatsApp user at random and persuade them to call a specific number. If a user dials the number as instructed by the attacker, they will be logged out of their WhatsApp account and the hacker will be able to take over the account.

“After gaining access to the account, the hacker demands money from the victim’s contacts.” The hacker thus scams the victim’s WhatsApp contacts before the victim realizes he has lost control of his account. “Because service providers all over the world use numbers that begin with ’67’ or ‘405’, victims tend to call without hesitation,” Sasi explained.

This is not the first WhatsApp scam to be discovered. Last year, we saw multiple WhatsApp threats and scams, including one that allowed an attacker to remotely control a user device. As a result, the existence of a new scam is not surprising.

There is currently no way to avoid this scam other than to avoid unknown WhatsApp calls. As a user, you should be aware of these scams at all times and inform other users in your fraternity about them. So, we recommend that you share this information with your friends and family to inform them about the new WhatsApp scam and to warn them not to answer unknown calls.
